Enjoy That BBQ Just A Little Too Much?

So summer is over, sad yes, but not as sad as all the unmentionables you may have eaten at that end of summer BBQ. Or perhaps there were a few too many beers the other night to commemorate the end of summer. Whatever havoc your wreaked on your internal organs this summer it’s only fair you right that wrong. Get back on track. It’s getting colder, we will soon be able to hide ourselves in thick sweaters and long pants or skirts, but that’s no excuse. I have a simple 3 step plan for you.

I am going to give you the summarized version of what I call a “quick detox”. This is not going to rid your body of all the toxins you have stored or cause you to lose weight. It will however, help you get back on track, regain some energy and feel lighter. It will also help stave those cravings the just seem to mount one on top of the other once you start down that slippery slope of not eating whole foods.

The main goal here is to juice, juice, juice. If you don’t have a juicer, blend, blend, blend.

Step 1. Every morning start your day with freshly pressed juice, fruit or veggie.  Green will give you more energy. If you’re not juicing make a green smoothie in your blender (I find baby spinach or kale great for smoothies). For the rest of the day eat whole foods. Juice as often as you like, the more the better!

Step 2. Drink A LOT of water throughout the day.

Step 3. Drink a cup of Senna Leaf tea each night before bed. Traditional Medicinals or Yogi tea make a great one. Senna leaf promotes peristalsis and will get things in your digestive tract moving (be prepared about 7 hours later).

Helpful Hints: Do not eat meat, baked goods, foods containing bleached flour and/or refined sugars. Also, exercise. Get moving, breath deeply, break a sweat.

Smile, be grateful for what you have. Get some morning sun. Find joy in the little things. Happiness is good for the mind, body and soul.
